Advanced Methods for C―H Bond Oxidation in Total Synthesis

The recent development of selective methods to oxidize C―H bonds presents a series of advantages compared with the traditional methods applied for the manipulation of organic molecules. Usually, the functionalization is based on the manipulation of reactive functional groups, such as carbonyls, alcohols, amines, and halogenated moieties. Inspired by nature, that routinely uses methods to directly oxidize C―H bonds, installing oxidized functionalities directly into the carbon skeleton of complex molecules without the need for pre-functionalization permits the possibility of structural diversification in easier ways and the increase in synthetic efficiency.
In this seminar, the state-of-the-art in C―H bond oxidation in total synthesis scenario will be presented and discussed.
